The 1st option should always be adoption

The 4th Annual Race for the Rescues was last Sunday and I'm so grateful that my friends were so generous with their contributions! I really appreciated everyone's support for this event and important cause. We had over 600 runners and brought in substantially more money this year!
It was a record-breaking turnout, and everyone had so much fun. Sean Kanan, Albert Reed, and the Laker Girls were FABULOUS and went above and beyond the call of duty to help make this our best event ever!

Loggins and Messina with Poco at Bethel Wood (Woodstock) August 2009
A real life planes, trains and automobiles (and throw in a bus and a cab) to get to Bethel Woods - the location of the Woodstock concert 40 years ago. The Woodstock museum was simply and completely captivating, really well done and even 2 1/2 hours didn't give me enough time to see everything. Well worth the trip just for that but to see Poco opening for Loggins and Messina was absolutely fabulous! The only disappointmemt was that I got so caught up in the show that I completely forgot to pull out my video camera and only took a few short clips. Sound quality is fair and the visuals suck but fortunately I'll see one or two more shows on the tour and get better footage for sure!! Jimmy and Kenny really did sound great, the band was beyond outstandning although one band member from the last tour was definitely missed but otherwise very, very good! My only complaint was the audience had a bunch of old farts and nobody was up on their feet dancing. I'm thinking "what the f---" but just got up and danced anyway. Hey it's a CONCERT and you go to have fun for goodness sake! Oh well....made a few enemies of the people sitting behind me but they could have got up off their fat, Khaki covered butts.

Chongo Needs a Home
He's a total lover!!! He would be best suited in a home with a nice size yard and with someone that will be happy to walk him and/or go on hikes ect.... He's not great on a leash but nothing that a little love and some patience in training him won't fix.

Fareed Zakaria Interviews Malcolm Gladwell
One of my favorite journalists Fareed Zakaria interviews Malcolm Gladwell about his new book Outliers. I just love his perspective on talent. He believes it's a direct result of practice IE "hard work = talent" and his example using The Beatles is really thought provoking. I think that there is still a component of nature that plays into it but the idea that talent is a byproduct of practice is far more empowering! Loved his book The Tipping Point, can't wait to read this one.
A seperate interview with Anderson Cooper also interesting

Driving in the Snow to Las Vegas
I understand that to many, many people driving in the snow is no big deal BUT having only seen snow a handful of times, driving in it unexpectedly was pretty cool! So, I'm driving to Vegas, listening to my tunes and the rain turns to snow - what can I say - had to film it!

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is "Wrong"
1) Being gay is not natural. And real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning, tattoos, piercings and silicon breasts.
2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay.
In the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior.
People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. Lamps are next.
4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all;
Hence why women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed;
And we can't let the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage be destroyed.
6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. So therefore, gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our population isn't out of control, our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.
7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children
Since, of course, straight parents only raise straight children.
8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion.
In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire counry. That's why we have only one religion in America.
9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home.
Which is exactly why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children......
*and we know how Scott Peterson being raised by both mother and father turned him into a wonderful human being..
10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms.
Just like we haven't adapted to cars, women in the workplace, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
Re-post this if you believe love makes a marriage.
