As a former journalist, I can tell you that it's very aprapo in these times that Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart mock our corporate owned media. It was interesting when PBS' Bill Moyers posed the question to panelists Amy Goodman and Glenn Greenwald why Meet the Press wouldn't have Colbert or Stewart replace the late, great Tim Russert. One responded to Moyers by saying they would be too raw and uninhibited.
There are still some great journalists out there. However, it's strange when watching how so many of these guys basically follow each other lock-and-step. Independent journalists and bloggers are great for engaging, in-depth pieces. Traditional newspapers are falling fast not only on advertising, but their scratch the surface storytelling as well.
I'm glad to find your blog. It's nice to stick out in a crowd. After all, I often find that I'm my own best company.
About me? Seemingly a simple question but...I guess the answer to that is all in the eyes of the beholder. I've been told as a compliment and with contempt that “I'm complicated.” Although I often find that I'm the exception to the rule, it’s not to stick out in a crowd, it’s just that I don’t follow the crowd or conventional wisdom well.
